

Pauline Maria Gordon of Bowie, Maryland (formerly of Kingston, Jamaica) passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica on May 7, 1932 to Hugh and Lydia Ferguson.
Pauline attended high school at the Convent of Mercy Academy (Alpha) in Kingston where she was regarded as an exemplary student, and later attended Alpha Commercial College before entering the Civil Service. She was selected to serve in the Jamaican Foreign Service with postings in Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. Upon retiring from the Civil Service, Pauline worked at the Jamaica Broadcasting Commission until her final retirement at the age of 71.
Her marriage to Keith Gordon on June 20, 1954 produced one daughter, Margaret, with whom she had been living in Maryland since June, 2021. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents (Hugh and Lydia) and her brothers (Homer, Francis and Raymond). She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Royster (Deryle), granddaughter, Melanie Royster, her sisters, Margot Simmons (Denis) and Jean (Peggy) Garel, and many nieces and nephews.
A devout Catholic, Pauline was admired and appreciated for her calm, peaceful, loving spirit. She was encouraging and generous, and enjoyed sharing stories. She related to all ages, and was very open-minded. She will be lovingly remembered for her playfulness, her sense of humor and her love for fashion. We will miss her beautiful smile, easy laughter and warm hugs.
The homegoing service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Largo, Maryland. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. and Mass will be at 11:00 a.m.
The family is encouraging attendees to wear colorful attire as a reflection of Pauline's light spirit and fun-loving nature.
