Philip Wai Tso Eng.

Phil was born on July 14, 1948, in Canton, China. At the age of two, he immigrated to the United States with his family after his father served in the United States Army. He grew up in Washington, D.C., where he developed a lifelong love of football and baseball, often playing on neighborhood concrete fields. He graduated from Western High School in 1967 and went on to attend the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

After graduating, Phil met the love of his life, Molly Lee, at a dance hosted by the Chinese Community Church. They were married on July 1, 1972, beginning a loving partnership that lasted more than fifty years. Their honeymoon in Hawaii remained one of the happiest memories of their lives together. Phil and Molly built a wonderful family, welcoming two sons, Marty and Philip “Joey”, into their home.

Throughout his career, Phil held a variety of managerial positions. He concluded his professional life at Sullivan's in Washington, D.C., where he served as manager of the art department. Although he took pride in his work, his greatest passion was sports.

A devoted fan of the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Washington Redskins, Phil found immense joy in following his favorite teams and collecting sports cards and memorabilia. Some of his fondest memories were made attending card shows with Molly and their sons, searching for treasured collectibles, gathering autographs, and creating lasting family memories. He also loved organizing family-and-friends softball games, bringing together the people he loved through friendly competition and laughter.

Above all, Phil cherished his family and the friendships he cultivated throughout his life. He was known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and his ability to make people laugh. He especially enjoyed spending time with loved ones, reconnecting with lifelong friends, and sneaking as many sweets past Molly as he could get away with.

He is survived by his beloved wife of more than fifty years, Molly Eng; his sons, Marty (Elizabeth) Eng and Philip "Joey" (Jean) Eng; and his six cherished grandchildren, Nathan, Tucker, Kirsten, Annabelle, Philip “Tre”, and Noah Eng. He also leaves behind countless extended family members and dear friends who will deeply miss his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.

Phil's legacy lives on through the love he shared with his family, the friendships he nurtured, and the many joyful memories he created. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
