It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Philip Witorsch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on July 11, 1937, in the Bronx, NY, Philip lived a life filled with compassion, dedication, and a commitment to the well-being of others.
Philip was the cherished son of Sarah and Benjamin Witorsch. He grew up surrounded by a loving family that instilled in him the values of hard work and service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Linda Witorsch, whom he married in June, 1958. He is survived by his devoted brother, Ray Witorsch.
Philip is survived by his loving children, daughter Beth Poss and son Jeffrey Witorsch. He took great joy in being a grandfather to Madeline Domino, Joshua Witorsch, and Morgan Poss, and he was especially proud to be a great-grandfather to Tripp Domino. Each of them held a special place in his heart.
Philip had an illustrious career as a Pulmonologist, graduating from NYU and then the NYU School of Medicine, first in his class at both. He did his internship at Yale University, before performing his public service years at the NIH Medical Center. He practiced at the Washington Hospital Center in D.C. and held esteemed positions as a doctor and faculty member at both George Washington University Medical Center and Georgetown University Medical Center. He was also a founding partner of a private consulting firm, The Centers for Environmental Health and Human Toxicology, where his expertise was highly regarded.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Philip had a passion for learning and exploration. He was an avid reader and traveled across the globe on both business and pleasure.
His family invites all those whose lives he touched to join them in celebrating his remarkable life. A funeral service will be held at the chapel of Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park (https://gardenofremembrance.org/), in Clarksburg, MD on February 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
