"Quy Viet Vo passed away on the morning of 1 August 2020 of heart failure. He was 3 weeks shy of 95 years old. Quy was born a Vietnamese national on 24 August 1925 in Vientiane Laos and was subsequently educated under the French system in Laos and Cambodia. Eventually he took refuge in Bangkok Thailand from the French and then the Japanese occupation of Indochina. In Bangkok, he was hired as a statistician for the United Nations office of ECAFE (Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East). In 1974 he acquired a scholarship from the UN to finish his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Maryland at College Park, Md. When the US-Indochina war ended in 1975, his family joined him in the US under the Vietnamese war refugees program. Quy became a US citizen in 1981. In 1976, after obtaining his BS in Business Administration, Quy was hired by the Montgomery County Government as an accountant where he remained for 18 years until retirement. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, one daughter, and two sons and five grandchildren."
