

Born on November 4, 1936, in Isabela, Puerto Rico, Rafael was a friendly and dedicated person to all. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service with a smile.
Rafael was deeply involved in his church community at the Washington Spanish Bilingual Seventh-day Adventist Church. A cherished member, he served in leadership roles for many years, including elder, deacon, Sabbath School teacher, and a member of the audio-visual team. His commitment to serving others with genuine friendship enriched countless church services.
In addition to his church activities, Rafael loved playing dominoes—sharing laughter and camaraderie with friends through his favorite hobby.
Rafael was preceded in death by his parents, Benito Bonilla and Maria Cecilia Ponce, as well as all of his siblings: Carmen Iris Ponce, Arcilia Bonilla, Rosalina Bonilla, Luis Bonilla, Emilia Arroyo, Maximina Bonilla, and Manuel Bonilla. He is survived by his beloved wife, Luz, of 63 years; son, Eliud Bonilla (Kathleen Kadow); daughter, Arlene Bonilla; grandchildren, Alex and Ana; and many nieces and nephews who have beautiful memories of their wonderful uncle.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Sunday, May 4, at 4:00 p.m., at the Washington Spanish Bilingual Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 12604 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904.
A private burial will take place on May 5 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Aspen Hill, Maryland
