

Richard Jordan Rose (“Dick”) passed away on December 22, 2024 in Navarre, Florida. Dick was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 28, 1928 to Sylvia (d.) and Jacob (Jack) Rose (d.) Dick graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati. After serving in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate - 1945-1949 - where he was awarded The Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal, Dick attended and graduated from the Capitol Radio Engineering Institute in Washington, D.C. Later in life, Dick attended college classes at Montgomery College and George Washington University to further his education.
While living in DC, Dick met and married Mary Clark (“Mitzi”) (d.). Together for 25 years, they raised 6 children; moving to Rockville, MD in the early 60’s. Dick was, by vocation, an electronic engineer and loved anything electronic or with gadgetry! He was a licensed amateur radio operator (Ham) – since 1945 – with the call ID, also his Maryland license plate – W30NQ). He built and repaired computers, televisions and radios and for a time owned a radio store in Rockville called Alpha Radio. He also enjoyed his brief time as an amateur (as in weekend) pilot and later was an avid boater on the South River near Annapolis, MD. He adored the Washington Redskins-now Commanders, owning season tickets and attending every game for many years with friends and his beloved partner, Romaine Garrison (d.).
Dick retired from his position as a Senior Technical Specialist with COMSAT Laboratories in 1988. In 2019, Dick moved south to Navarre, FL to be with his daughter, Carla, where he enjoyed his last years in the warmth of the sunshine and near the calm gulf waters.
Richard is survived by 2 daughters, Carla Rose Hundy (Peter) of Navarre, FL and Julie Rose Bobrow (Michael) of Damascus MD and sons Eugene Rose (Barbara) of Fairfax Station, VA and Craig Rose of Orlando, FL. Richard was preceded in death by sons, David Rose of Trenton, NC and Scott Rose of Colorado, as well as preceded in death by beloved daughter in laws, Maria Elena Rose (Craig) and Delphine Rose (Scott) and his cherished sister and her husband, Judith and Don Mendelson. Dick was also preceded in death by his cherished long-time companion, Romaine Garrison. Dick leaves behind 16 beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Kristen, Laura, Barbara, Kimberly, Jennifer, Jean, Robert, Patricia, Heather, Katie, Jessica, Megan, Andrew, and Stephanie and 15 precious great-grandchildren as well as many loved nieces and nephews. Also surviving are the beloved children of Romaine - Tommy Wampler, Mary Hawbecker, and Millie Greene.
Viewing and funeral service will be held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, Maryland 20904 on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with Interment after at Parklawn Memorial Park and Menorah Gardens, 12800 Veirs Mill Rd., Rockville, MD 20853.
Repast/reception following interment at Washington Rockville Elks Lodge at 5 Taft Ct., Rockville, Maryland 20850.
