"Bob" (Age 97)
Bob Balkam passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in Rockville, MD. He is survived by his beloved wife of 76 years, Laurin Cooper Balkam. Loving father of eight children: Cliff (Jane) Balkam, Ellen (Bob) Lent, Julie (Jack) Koczela, Stephen (Jan) Balkam, Ruth (Ralph) Chite, Teresa (David) Dickinson, Danny (Sharon) Balkam, and Grace (Greg) O'Brien. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, 1513 Dunster Rd., Rockville, MD 20854 on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. Family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the church. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to the Ingleside at King Farm Employee Appreciation Fund, 701 King Farm Blvd., Rockville, MD 20850; or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
