Brother to David and wife Janice. Brother to Doug and wife Susan. Father to Michael, Stephen, and Christopher. Father-in-law to Tiffany. Grandfather (Pop Pop) to Drew, Katherine, Mason, Caroline, Morgan, and Carter.
Robert loved his family and friends. Sports was his passion his whole life, whether playing, watching or coaching golf, tennis, basketball, and baseball. He coached many of his son's baseball and basketball teams. Before he had his own children, he coached youth women's basketball. He grew up in Tenafly, NJ. He went to Franklin and Marshall College for his undergraduate degree. He then spent 2 years in the Army learning foreign language (Slavik Russian). He did basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey and then went to Monterey, California to the Army's language school. After the Army he got his Masters at Penn State in foreign languages (Slavik Russian). He moved to Washington, DC and began his career in the federal government at the Office of Personnel Management and became a retirement benefits specialist. He finished his career with OPM, but in a different office located at NIH in Bethesda MD. In his retirement he played a lot of golf and tennis with his buddies and his wife Joan. They enjoyed music concerts at Wolf Trap, a group bus trip to see the National Parks in the Western US, cruises, the beach, and trips to Italy and Greece. Also their annual golf and tennis trip to Hilton Head with their friends. And countless visits with family, children and grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be missed.
