Robert Todd Orrison, age 52, of Silver Spring, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on August 4, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born February 13, 1969 in Loma Linda, California, he was the son of Richard and Sharon (Porter) Orrison. A dedicated Senior Construction Project Manager of countless large-scale projects in the Washington DC area, with a Bachelor of Science from Andrews University, Rob was proud of all his work, but highlights were projects at the Washington Navy Yard, Millennium at Metropolitan Park, US Naval Academy, Thurgood Marshall Center, and most recently at the White House. However, that’s not the Rob we remember most vividly. He cherished spending time with friends and family at the Forest Knolls Pool, on camping trips and vacations, Boy Scout outings, watching the Nationals (and being thrilled when they went all the way to winning the World Series), and he did this to the very end. A source of joy and relaxation was learning about and playing guitar. He loved strumming with family around a fire pit, with friends at the pool or camping. He couldn’t turn away from an engaging documentary that helped feed his love of history. He was a fantastic cook who could do a full Thanksgiving meal as well as be a master at the grill. He was most proud of cooking the perfect paella or apple pie. These things and more are how we will remember him.
Beloved partner and husband of Caroline Kendrick Orrison for 27 years. Loving father of Christine (17) and Nickalus (16) Orrison. Devoted son of the late Richard Orrison and Sharon (Porter) Orrison of Berrien Springs, Michigan. Dear brother of Richard Orrison of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Ryan Orrison of St. Joseph, Michigan. Dear uncle to Clarissa, Ethan, Lucy, Reese and Rowan Orrison. Loving nephew of Bonnie Porter and many cousins. Fond Son in-law to Peter and Grace Kendrick and brothers in-law to Tim Kendrick and Wiley Kite.
Celebrations of Rob’s life will be planned for Michigan and Silver Spring in the future.
