Rosie B. Hopkins, beloved daughter of Rosie May Whitfield and Charles Lee Robinson, and eldest of four children, was born in Ackerman, Mississippi.
She was a radiant soul, full of life and her warmth touched all who knew her. Rosie graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1949, a year filled with promise and new beginnings.
In that same year, she married the late Earl Lee Fox and embarked on a journey that led her to Washington, D.C. There, she joined the typing pool at the Department of
Navy, quickly rising through the ranks to become a keyboard puncher and eventually a Computer Programming Specialist, a role she held with pride until her retirement
in 1994. In 1963, she married the late Chief Petty Officer Robert "Hoppy" Simon
Hopkins, with whom she shared a loving bond and a vibrant life.
Rosie was the cherished mother of Consandra Ann Fox and Andrea "Angi/Andi"
Hopkins. Known affectionately as Auntie Rose and an Honorary Grandmother to
many, she was a guiding light and a nurturing presence in countless lives.
A proud member of the Ladies of the Fraternal Reserve Auxiliary and a lifetime member of LA Fitness, Rosie embraced life with boundless energy. She traveled to all 50 states and ventured abroad, savoring the richness of different cultures. Dancing was her passion, especially line dancing, and she was an enthusiastic aqua fitness participant. A patron of the performing arts, Rosie celebrated creativity in all forms.
Rosie was a hostess extraordinaire, founding member of Kemp Mill Friends, known
for her BlackTie events and the annual Christmas Round Robin. Her gatherings, from evenings of chitterlings, champagne, and peaches to spontaneous get togethers, were legendary. She was the heart of every social circle, her door always
open, her heart always welcoming.
Rosie’s friends spanned the globe, from travel clubs to lunch bunch birthday clubs.
Her home was a sanctuary for friends and family alike, a testament to her generosity
and loving spirit.
In her passing, we remember Rosie B. Hopkins not with sorrow, but with deep
gratitude for the joy, kindness, and light she brought into our lives. May her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support continue to inspire us all.
