For many years of my life, I felt a certain security in knowing that when I glanced on the left side, in a pew near the front of the Glen Echo Baptist Church, I would always see Mrs. Ruby Cole. Through my young mind's eye, she seemed grand and important sitting in quiet elegance. It was a very special treat to be invited to the Cole's home, entertained by the beautiful Cole girls and teased by their older brother. Here, Mrs. Cole's charm and hospitality became evident everywhere you looked. Clearly, the role as a pastor's wife is not always easy, but she remained faithful to her family, to her church, and to her God. If I could take a peek into Heaven right now, I imagine her standing on the left side, near the front with Dave by her side. They're rejoicing as God says, "Well done."
With loving memories,

My mom was the best mom anyone could ever ask for. She was nurturing, kind & compassionate. She was brave & strong. She was an excellent cook, seamstress & gardener. Side by side with my dad, as a pastor's wife, she served willingly in any capacity at the Glen Echo Baptist Church for 50 years. But most of all she was a homemaker & loved all her family. We have many happy memories of times spent together shopping at Montgomery Mall, beach trips to Ormond Beach in Florida, a trip out West to see all the California cousins, Bedford, VA trips to see her brother Bill & family, & her love of collecting dolls, & all manner of collectibles. She is already greatly missed, & my time spent with her over the past years has been an honor & privilege because it was the very least I could do for someone I love so much. Heaven is now her home & she is reunited with my dad. What a wonderful blessing.
