Ruth Anne Taliaferro Sullivan, of Leisure World in Silver Spring, Maryland died peacefully surrounded by family on January 16, 2019. Born May 4, 1931 in Washington DC and raised in Cottage City, MD, she was the daughter of the late Hay Brooke Taliaferro and Ruth Hammond Taliaferro. In addition to raising six children, Ruth Anne was a realtor for many years and after retirement was an active officer of the Friends of Holy Cross Health – an auxiliary to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland.
She was predeceased by her parents and a grandson Jesse Taliaferro Alexander. She is survived by her sisters Florence Brinkley of Effort, PA and Carolyn Blauvelt of Silver Spring, MD; six children, Linda Sullivan of Falls Church, VA, Michael Sullivan (Nancy) of Olney, MD, Kathryn (Joseph) Sullivan Kolar of Bethesda, MD, Patricia Alexander of Silver Spring, MD, Jerry Sullivan of Dallas, TX, and John Sullivan (Shelley) of Chester, MD. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Carrie, James, Casey, Aldea, Jack, Brooke, Tim, Rob, and Bridget and three great-grandchildren, Kade, Jayla and Jaxon. In addition, she leaves many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 25, 2019 at the Leisure World Interfaith Chapel, 3680 South Leisure World Blvd., Silver Spring, MD 20906. Reception immediately following at Club House I. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Holy Cross Hospital c/o Friends of Holy Cross.
