I remember Samantha's sweet smile and friendliness.  She was always present but never drew attention to herself.  Samantha was a dear person and I am so sad to learn of her passing.

I met Sam during our undergrad years at PUC. I remember the moment when she truly became my friend. During one of the labs or one of our study sessions, I was trying to say something to the group but everyone kept jumping in or talking over me. Then Sam just turned to me, placed her hand on my arm and said, “Hilary, I’m listening [to you].” It was that moment I knew she was someone who always tries to make others feel included and would genuinely
want to hear what you had to say. After undergrad we would occasionally stay in contact through social media/texting, but
we recently reconnected in person last year. She had moved out to San Diego county and I moved back home to Los Angeles. I loved her adventurous spirit, especially when it came to food. I could always count on her to take me somewhere with amazing food and to have a good time. She was able to finally meet my husband, and even though we had been married for about 2 years at this time, my husband could tell she was still trying to feel him out to see if he was worthy of me. I loved her sassiness and how you could always rely on her to be there for you. She never made you feel rushed or stressed out. Even when she would talk to me about her
current problems, she handled them with such a calm spirit and grace. She cared deeply about her family and always made sure to consider them in her life choices. She truly embodied the character of Christ with a heart so full of love. I miss her beautiful smile and spirit. I am so grateful to have met her and so blessed to have called her my friend. I will never forget how she has touched my life. I cannot wait until that day comes where we can be together again in Christ. I miss you Sam. Until we meet again.

Although I have not known Sam for a long time, she made an impression on me that stuck. I admired her soft-spokenness and her ability to command a room in her own unique way. She would always approach me and say “Hi” when I was new at Bonita church and I really appreciated that. Both Sam and I are RN’s and I remember I would always complain about work but she seemed to be positive about her job and that helped me remember to appreciated the job that I had. I thank God that I met Sam and that I Got to be there just before she passed away. She was strong till the very end. Sam is not gone forever, when she opens her eyes again, it will be just like time never stopped and she will be face to face with her Savior.

Sam was my cherished friend, confidant, and soul sister. To know her was to know grace, compassion, and love. I’ll never forget going to her house to pick up her house keys as she asked me to watch her puppy and house as she planned to visit her family in the east coast. As soon as I walked in the offers started, “I just cooked dinner, want anything? Opens fridge, I’ve got leftover tofu, curry, thai, anything?” Sam was always willing to extend a helping hand. Before my departure to Orlando, Florida she connected me with her sister Erica. I could not believe how compassionate an individual could be, and luckily I was able to experience that compassion. I was also blessed to witness the famous eye roll as she bit her tongue when a guy from church had a not so caring moment. Sam, was beautiful in and out. She was a friend I will treasure forever as she had the presence to encourage a positive atmosphere anywhere she went. Just like I told her, “I will always be here friend.” And I cannot wait to be next to her again one day. Thank you for impacting my life Sam, and thank you for extending that loving spirit we all knew you had - indeed a friend who was a blessing always. Till we meet again Amiga!

One of my fondest memories of Sam is when her sister and a few friends came to visit San Diego and I got a peak at her in her natural element. She had been in San Diego for close to a year and had plugged right into the Bonita family, but there was something extra in her that lit up when they were here. Each of them were people I’d love to call friends, and it was a true reflection of the amazing people she attracted. I’ll never forget sitting around, eating pupusas, and laughing at stories from her childhood. 

Our family has had the pleasure of knowing Samantha since she was a young girl. We have fond memories of traveling to Niagara Falls and going bowling with our families. We watched Samantha grow into a beautiful, intelligent, caring young woman with a remarkable steadfast faith. She had a quiet strength about her, and her choice of profession as a nurse suited her very well. Words cannot express the impact of her loss- as a beloved sister, daughter, friend, and more. Let us all strive to feel the love and blessings that she undoubtedly showers onto us every day from above. Rest easy Samantha.

A lot can happen in 18 years. We go from bright-eyed teens filled with dreams of doing amazing things, to blossoming into adults that have achieved those things. We travel, explore and learn about all the riches the world has to offer; yet we fail to realize that the greatest of all of them hasn’t changed since we were kids. That Sam, is the blessing of relationships with family and friends. If only I had one more day to just hang out or just chat, it would be great; but it wouldn’t be any easier to let you go. When you’ve had a friend this long, you’ve essentially lost family. Thank you for the laughs, the love, and the shared dreams. Until we meet again Sam, rest well.

When I think about Samantha, the first word that pops into my head is kindness. No matter what was going on, you know Sam had a big smile on her face that she was always willing to share. Sam was a sweet soul and you could feel God's love  when you came in contact with her.  I cannot wait for the day when the clouds are rolled back like a scroll and we are all reunited. Until that day, we live with her memory in our hearts and minds and try to pass on the kindness that she showed each one of us. 

We met Sam while attending PUC in our respective fields of study, Biology and Chemistry. She was a very happy, kind and friendly person; I’m pretty sure everyone felt that way because she’s awesome! It is these characteristics which helped our friendship grow through the years in undergrad and after. We learned so much from Sam’s character which became a part of who we are now as a people and as professionals. As dentists, we share that happy, kind, and friendly  manner with patients; we could definitely tell yesterday (December 13th) that Sams manner had somehow managed to become an integral part of who we are in terms of sharing her characteristics with the patients we help and tend to. You will be missed Sam, you became our little sister in the time that we knew each other. We were blessed to have crossed paths but your memory will live on as we continue to strive to be more kind, happy and friendly people and professionals.  Love you lots Sam!

I still remember the first moment that we met, in the hallway of Andre Hall, my second year of PUC. From Samantha's quiet confidence, I assumed she was a senior, and was so shocked that she had just arrived. Although years have passed since that day, I still remember our adventures like yesterday. Trips to the beach, random foodie outings, and especially that time we went fishing, and almost ran out of gas on a random dirt road, and then a cop pulled us over. Samantha was so worried and nervous! I think that this was the only time I saw Samantha frazzled. She was always so kind, calm, and always ready to give a warm hug. Samantha, we are going to miss you too much,  and I cannot wait for that beautiful morning. Rest well, my friend, we'll see you soon.

Samantha was one of the sweetest people I knew. From the time we met in high school I can't remember a mean-spirited word coming from her. Even when I would procrastinate on group projects. We cruised together on our senior class trip and traveled across Spain. One of my favorite memories from Spain was watching the flamenco dancers together. We shared a good laugh that night. Sam, I can't believe we don't get to make anymore memories together or share anymore laughs. You called my newborn son your nemesis because of the look he gave you when you first met and you were determined to get him to like you. He'll never get to see the kind and loving person you were but I'll be sure to tell him all about you. You were a great friend and I'm glad I got the privilege to know you. Rest in peace. When we get to heaven I can't wait to pick right back up on our friendship just like we always did.

I am very grateful that I had the pleasure of meeting Sam at PUC. She was so incredibly sweet and always kind to everyone around her. I really feel like it is rare to find people that are so genuinely good, but Sam was definitely a great one. What a beautiful person, in every way. I have no words for what has happened, but I do feel honored to have gotten to have great times and fun memories with Sam at our lovely little college, and I have hope for when we will meet again soon. Love you Sam.

She was one of the very few people we never wanted to and didn't lose touch with. We wanted her to be the Godmother to our children and come with us on adventures. For Louise she was like a precious God given angel who always asked the right questions at the right times and together they forged an unshakable bond of
sisterhood, kinship and love.o when that is shown so expressly as it was in Samantha, that tells us that she was in very close relation with God. She was and is a shining example of hard work and dedication. She achieved greatness in nursing school and was able to do this while working, she was on her way to becoming a nurse practitioner. She and her family opened up their home to us on several occasions, always feeding us with the absolute best food, fun games and amazing fellowship filled with laughter. We have fond memories of Samantha, she helped build the bouquet for our wedding and stood with us on one of the most important days of our lives. She was there with us through school and through work. She confided in us and us in her without a second thought. She hung
out with us, ate with us, cried with us, supported us. We were extremely blessed to have her in our lives, and her impression on us will last forever, we look forward to seeing her again, and
this hope urges us to say “Jesus, please come soon.”

Louise and Samantha enjoyed watching horrible movies together(in Will’s opinion of course), cooking food, laughing and making fun of Will. Whenever he would say or do anything silly she would give us this look, then Louise and Samantha would go on Will bouncing off each others comments with ease. Samantha and
Louise enjoyed talking about their aspirations, wellness, encouraging and inspiring one another to reach their goals. For Will she was an irreplaceable puzzle piece that makes up his life. She
was able to roll with his foolishness and communicate with him in serious conversations. She was a true friend close to his heart, they enjoyed talking about movies, food, spirituality and fitness. She was very patient with Will’s ridiculousness and knew how to turn the
tables on his corny anecdotes, Will loved her like a sister. Samantha can never be replaced, she was one of a kind, longsuffering, kind hearted, patient, quick to listen and easy to talk to. These qualities imitates that of the Holy Spirit in the best sense. She was overall a good person in a world where no one is good, goodness is something that only belongs to God.

Dear Sam,
I miss you so much. You were one of my earliest and closest friends during college. Remember those days we would sit and have lunch together or those nights we would chat about whatever was on our minds? You were so caring and understanding in a way few people could ever be; it's what made you special to me and to so many others. I could always share a laugh with you, each memory with you is a happy one. I didn't realize it until later how truly rare a friendship like yours was and how precious you were to me. I wish I reconnected with you more often after we left college. We always had this plan on the back burner to visit each other when our schedules allowed. I can't bring myself to understand that we won't get that chance. But I hope now you're at rest and at peace. You're warmth, love, and kindness will be something I carry with me everyday. I'm so thankful I had the privilege of being your friend. I'll love and miss you always, Sam.

Samantha and I became good friends at PUC. We had a lot of classes together and she was one of my main study buddies. I always knew she would do more than her part on projects, always had a smile on her face even when we had been studying for hours, and she always loved doing fun activities when we’d take a break from studying. She was a such a good sport when a few of us biked to Napa and back and she would do things like send me a huge Tupperware of home baked goods when I was in dental school. She was such a good and genuine person and Im lucky to have known her. We’ll miss you Sam Bam.

Sam was a blessing to anyone lucky enough to meet her. We bonded over our love of Psych at PUC, where I was lucky enough to be her roommate. There was no one I would have rather gone swimming or hiking with, and she had the ability to turn even the most mundane task into a grand adventure. I will never forget her kindness and giving heart, and I am so grateful to have been graced with her presence in my life. I’m heartbroken she is no longer here, but look forward to the day when we can swim, dance, and laugh together again soon.
