Sharon Lynne (Gerstein) Fox of Bethesda, MD, passed away on Saturday, October 10th at the age of 78. She was born on December 21, 1947, in Ossining, New York, to Julius and Anita (Hurwitz) Gerstein.
Sharon graduated from Croton-Harmon High School, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the State University of New
York at Buffalo and went on to complete her Master of Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
A lifelong educator, Sharon taught language at Reading High School in Massachusetts, worked as a substitute teacher in Montgomery County, and tutored local high school students in language and literature. She had a special gift for working with students with learning differences, and brought patience, rigor, and dedication
to every student she helped. Sharon dedicated her life to her family and relished her role as Grandma Bubbe.
She is survived by her husband, David Fox; her children, Marc Fox & Clara Kwan, Peter Fox & Gabriela Montenegro, and Erica Fox & Paul Greer; her siblings, Wendie & Robert Garber and Irving Gerstein; seven grandchildren; and extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Judean Memorial Gardens, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, MD 20832.
