Our beloved Shawn Leomard Cazeau was born on October 3, 1998 in Silver Spring, MD to Vernet and Marie Rosenie Cazeau. He was the third born in a family of four children: Don, Samantha and Calvin Cazeau. Shawn attended Spring Brook High School where he excelled tremendously in academics and football. He was a beast on and off the field, hence to him gaining the name “Honcho.”
Shawn played football starting at the age of 8 years old with his cousin Neal and many other friends soon turned into family. It was always a pleasure and such a warm feeling to experience how dedicated they were when it came to football. Due to Shawn tearing his ACL in high school, his dreams of going pro in football were short lived. For a short period of time, he later attended Bowie State University. Shawn was such a vibrant, young, and intelligent man. Although he was shy, any conversation he had with anyone, there was always a mark left. To know Shawn was to know determination. Shawn always made sure he encouraged his loved ones to keep going and never give up on their dreams.
Shawn was a hardworking man. He worked at the White Oak Recreation Center as the assistant director and loved to work with kids. Shawn was a family man who was always eager to help his parents and siblings if needed. He was very close with his younger brother Calvin, they did everything together from playing games, hanging out and playing sports. Shawn was the glue to the family. Not only was he loved by his family, but his friends, coworkers and students as well. Shawn undeniably always exemplified dignity, love, respect and true compassion.
June 30, 2022 was the start of our first annual cousins trip that took place in Cancun, Mexico. It was a wonderful time where 16 of us had the opportunity to connect and vibe with each other. Everyone there was having so much fun! Sadly, on Monday July 4th, 2022, Shawn passed away at the age of 23. Shawn was surrounded by love and the family will continue to honor his legacy. Shawn’s life would seem too short by many, but those who knew Shawn understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.
Shawn is survived by his parents Vernet and Marie Rosenie Cazeau and his siblings, Don, Samantha and Calvin Cazeau. We love you forever and always Shawn. Long live Honcho! #Honcho4LIFE
