Lost a great friend. Love to David and family

One of the fondest memories that I have of Sherry is when the two of us would slip away from the family and go to Friendly’s and just sit and talk for hours! 
Sherry loved her family and her friends so much! Her children and grandchildren were the world to her, and my brother David was pretty special to her too!
I know that we all have such beautiful memories to look back on and smile, when we think of Sherry!

I met Sherry in the 80’s when we were both volunteers for Girl Scouts.  I had a Brownie troop and she distributed Girl Scout cookies. I was delighted when she moved across the street from me on Higgins Dr.  She and I used to shop for back to school clothes and supplies for Evan, Sariah, and my grandson Lyle. We also got up early to shop the day after Thanksgiving sales for our families for the holidays. When Zayne was born and shortly thereafter my grandson, Logan was born, the boys became playmates. They had summer children movie playdates at Regal and lunches, activities playing with race cars, scooters and bicycles. Sherry was always excited about the Christmas tree and decorations and was part of our family celebrations on Christmas Eve and Lyles Eagle Scout Award. She organized our neighbors gatherings for dinners, and during Covid she and I, knowing we wouldn’t get many trick or treaters, and dressed up in clown costumes to greet the kids. I guess I will have to work on my execution of Buckeye candy. And I know you all have gotten a tin of Sherry’s Buckeyes. Condolences to the family, we will all miss Sherry.

Sherry was from the old “school”. You do your job the best you can and if you run out of things to do, you look for something else to do. When I was the Director of CUMCDC Sherry was one of my lead teachers. She was licensed to be with the younger children all the way through 5th grade. That meant Sherry could be in any class in the building. She chose to open every morning at 6:30 without fail. I didn’t have to worry that she wouldn’t show up because she understood how our early parents and I depended on her. Some mornings she was not 100%, that has nothing to do with  her performance, but the fact she suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, but she came to work regardless. Sherry knew how important it was for our children to have the beginning of their day start out on the right foot! For school age children that meant maybe letting them put their heads down and sleep a little more, or maybe help with homework that hadn’t been completed, but it didn’t end there a little fresh air playing outside and then a light breakfast because we knew that some children had been hurried to get to CUMCDC and maybe hadn’t had time to eat.  Sherry liked science and doing projects with the kids. What ever it was children, parents and staff loved Sherry. She was a wonderful teacher and a great person that will be missed by many.  RIP Sherry you have given much love to so many over the years!

I’m so sorry for her loss.  She was great with kids.  She was a great co-worker.  My practical , on the job, teacher training working with her, along with Donna McNicol & Rose Marie Reed,  taught me much more than my official teacher training & college education ever did.  It was more valuable than my college education and played a large role in making me the teacher I am today.

Your mother was such a caring and understanding women ( she had to be with us running around) I have many great memories of her to cherish.  Nothing beat eating gizzards while relaxing on the couch watching boy meets world with her!

The loss of a parent leaves a void that words cannot fill. You have made your mother so proud. Im sorry her light is gone from your life, but I  know her legacy will live on through you!

Sherry was one of the best friends anyone could wish for. Although distance was between us, we kept in touch in our retirement. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. RIP my dear friend. ❣️

We are so sorry for your loss.Mrs.Weinzimer always welcomed me into her home and was always warm and cordial towards me and my son.
