Stanley B. Blumberg

October 9, 1934May 3, 2021

Stanley B. Blumberg, 87, of New York and Southampton, passed away peacefully Monday in Maryland surrounded by his family. Stanley was born in Williamsburg, NY, in 1934, the son of Pauline and David Blumberg, owners of a candy and sundry shop. He attended Boys Latin High and would help in his parents’ shop every day. He graduated both Columbia College (’55) and Columbia Law School (’58). Stan married Marilyn Tolvin in 1957 and went to work for a small firm in Manhattan. Later, he started working for developer Sam Lefrak, before he became a founding partner of the boutique firm of Olnick Boxer Blumberg Lane & Troy. OBBLT became one the most prestigious real estate firms in the city, culminating with its merger with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in 1988. Stan was a master draftsman and he continued to practice what he liked to call “dirt law” until he retired at the age of 70. Stanley is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his daughters, Susan (Lewis), Stacy (Jon) and Ruth (Andy); and his sister, Harriet. His grandchildren Avery, Aviva, Anna, Natan and Noah were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his grandson Alec (Sasha). Funeral services in Maryland will be private due to COVID-19 restrictions. [Donations may be sent to the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton.]

I am so sorry for your loss. Stanley was 1 of my first bosses. I have such vivid memories of him. I can see him in my mind walking the halls of 7 Hanover Square smoking a cigarette and drinking a cup of black coffee.
