Steve Goodman, 83, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026 after an extended illness that he bravely fought. A devoted husband, loving father, and friend, Steve will be remembered for his calm and kind disposition, quick wit, and wise and sensible demeanor.
Early Life
Steve was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Ben and Yetta Goodman. Brother to Lynne Goodman (Reisberg), he grew up in a modest, loving home in Cincinnati enjoying sports, especially baseball, and spending time with his buddies. He went on to attend Walnut Hills High School (a magnet high school in the area) and then put himself through college attending the University of Cincinnati earning a Bachelors in Business Administration.
Marriage and Family
Steve’s best friend introduced him to Patricia (Patty) Boyce in 1968 and they then married the next year in 1969. Three years later, they had their first child, David, in 1972 and then their second child, Michael, in 1975. Steve and Patty shared more than 56 years of marriage. Together they raised two incredible boys and built a family grounded in love, loyalty, laughter.
Career
Steve began his career working for the Department of Defense (DOD) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He then briefly worked as a salesman for Hanes before returning to positions with HUD and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), working his way up to a management position specializing in procurement and contracts. He worked hard and eventually was lured away from the federal government to work in the private sector by Arthur Anderson (which later became Anderson Consulting and then Accenture). At the end of his career, he retired as an Associate Partner at Accenture having touched the lives of many along his career journey. Those who had the pleasure of working with Steve consistently remarked how kind, patient, and calming he always was.
