Susan Elizabeth Ingraham (Wisilosky), 64, of Cabin John, MD passed away suddenly on April 2, 2021 from a cardiac event. She was born in Connellsville, PA to John and Gayle (Adams) Wisilosky. Susan graduated from Connellsville Area Senior High School in 1975. She later moved to Washington, DC in 1978 where she worked as a travel agent. Susan met her husband, Jim Ingraham shortly after moving to Washington. She left her career as a travel agent so they could start a family and raise their two children. She greatly enjoyed volunteering as a classroom mom, chaperoning field trips and spending time with her family. As her children grew older, Susan became a dedicated school crossing guard at Somerset Elementary School in 2006. She greatly enjoyed helping the school children get to and from school safely and working with the Somerset community. Susan’s family would like to thank Somerset for making her part of the community and for their love and support. Susan was a proud breast cancer survivor. She was able to work through the various treatments and only missed a few days from work for infusions. She was very stoic through treatment. Susan was extremely passionate about progressive issues, including climate change, woman’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and legalization of recreational marijuana (which helped her during her breast cancer journey). Susan loved to garden and travel, visiting 15 countries and countless states. Over Susan’s life, she enjoyed adopting multiple rescue animals.
Susan was proceeded by her mom and dad, sister Helen Claverie; nephews David Wisilosky and Ned Lucas; sister-in-law Kathy Wisilosky; brother-in-law John Ingraham; father-in-law Ed Ingraham and mother-in-law Susan Ingraham. She is survived by her husband and two children, Chris Ingraham of Germantown, MD and his husband James; and Amanda Ingraham of Austin, TX (formally of Cabin John, MD) and her partner Andrew; brother Frank Wisilosky of Acme, PA; sisters Peggy Lucas of Middletown, PA and her husband Ed; Cathy Wisilosky and Becky Wisilosky of Indian Head, PA (formally of Washington, DC); and a number of nieces and nephews.
Due to the pandemic, a private memorial service will be held for family and close friends. Since Susan was very passionate about several progressive issues, in lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation the charity of your choice.
