

Twila Jean Nattel (Age 85) of Bethesda, MD passed away on June 7, 2017, at the Montgomery Hospice Casey House in Rockville, MD. She was the oldest child of Michael and Laura Casterline, and was born in Abilene, Kansas on January 31, 1932.
Mrs. Nattel grew up in Kansas. She was a beloved and loving person who, throughout her life, was generous and caring. A graduate of Belleville, HS in 1950, she worked through school and earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy (OTR) from The University of Kansas in 1956.
On June 7, 1957, she married A. Marvin Nattel in Indianapolis, IN, moved to Washington, DC in 1959, and continued to work as an OTR while raising her three children. She later joined her husband in the family’s Bethesda home dental practice for more than two decades, where until Dr. Nattel’s death in 1995, they often provided charitable dental care for refugees, children, and families in need. Mrs. Nattel enjoyed countryside drives and genealogy, and was a member of Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County.
She is survived by her three children, Deborah G. Ben Yossef (Avi) of Israel; Rebecca F. Rieck (Bob) of Rockville, MD; and Michael W. Nattel of Bethesda, MD; as well as great/grandchildren, nieces and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Michael Benjamin Casterline (d. 1966) and Anna Laura Casterline (d. 1975) of Salina, KS; her husband, Adolph Marvin Nattel, D.D.S. (d. 1995) of Bethesda, MD; and her brother, Gail Eugene Casterline (d. 2013) of Nagoya, Japan.
On June 9, 2017, Twila Jean Nattel was given a beautiful graveside service by her family and friends at Menorah Gardens in Rockville, MD where she was laid to rest with her Husband. Memorial donations are greatly appreciated, and may be made to the Montgomery Hospice.
