Wendy Kaplan, resident of the Villages, passed away on September 12, 2024 at the age of 76. As most people know Wendy adored her family. She shared a special bond with her daughter, Monica, and son, Eric who loved her dearly. Her five grandchildren – Jacob, Devin, Tyler, Reagan, and Jaime – were the greatest joy in her life. She taught all of them the true meaning of unconditional love, for that they will always be grateful.
Her grandchildren shared some special memories:
Tyler - Memaw was the embodiment of the perfect grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren immeasurably and has done so much for me and the whole family. I will forever miss our weekly phone calls, and will make sure my future family knows all about their Memaw. Her memory will forever be a blessing
Reagan - You could always count on Memaw telling you how proud she was of you and how much she loves you. She was always very unfiltered and would always say it like it is but she never meant any harm by what she was saying. I will always remember my trips to Florida and going on many fishing excursions and going on airboat rides and being able to see lots of different wildlife. Memaw was always willing to do whatever us grandkids wanted even if it meant sitting on a fishing boat in the hot sun all day long.
Devin - Losing Memaw, especially when we thought she would outlive us all, leaves a huge hole in our family. I want to thank my mom for giving me such a great grandmother who I got to be so close with. We will love her and miss her so much.
Jacob – Memaw was always willing and excited to open her home to me and my friends, when we needed a weekend away from college. She always answered the phone when I wanted to chat.
Later in life she moved to The Villages, where she met so many new friends and took up new activities – she became a pretty good golfer, a horrible billiard player and an intimidating mah jong shark. She truly was taking advantage of the opportunities the Villages offers. To this day she has one of the largest TicTac collections ever amassed.
Wendy was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Dorthy Hillman and brother David.
