

Yvette Rachel Temam of Silver Spring died March 13 at the age of 96. Yvette was a 17-year resident of Homecrest House in Aspen Hill, where she was an active member of that senior community. She was loved and respected by all with whom she came into contact. Yvette served as president of the Homecrest chapter of B’nai B’rith International for the past six years.
Born in Tunisia, Yvette became a U.S. citizen in 1977 and relocated to Maryland after having lived and worked (as a nanny) in Boston, MA for 34 years. Her expertise in the kitchen was legendary, especially in the preparation of North African cuisine. In 1983, she authored a cookbook entitled “Tunisian Jewish Cooking.”
Yvette was predeceased by her husband, Roger, in 2005. She is survived by her sister, Lucette Borowski, of Nantes, France; five children: Maryse Klein of Silver Spring, MD; Franklin and Richard Temam of Paris, France; Edgar Temam of Eugene, OR and Raoul Temam of San Francisco, CA. She also leaves six grandchildren: Dena Katz of Bethesda, MD; Daniel Klein of Miami, FL; Jonathan Temam of Dubai, UAE; Gary Temam of Jerusalem, Israel; Charlotte and Victoria Temam of Paris, France, and nine great grandchildren.
Yvette Temam was a woman of faith and a firm believer in the principles and practices of Judaism. She was a consistent donor to numerous Jewish charitable organizations. Zichrona l’bracha - May her memory be for a blessing.
