Zoe Burnham Martindale, age 90, of Silver Spring and more recently of Monrovia, Maryland passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Sterling Care Rockville Nursing. Zoe was born February 8, 1931 in Glens Falls, NY. She was the daughter of the late William (Bill) Burnham and Marguerite (Shaw) Burnham.
Zoe retired from Tadjer-Cohen-Edelson Associates, Inc structural engineering firm in 1994 after more than 20 years of service as an Office Manager and Administrative Assistant. She held several secretarial and administrative assistant positions over the years including working at the Hardwick Stove Company that is now part of the Maytag Corporation. She had been an active member of the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church (SSPC) on University Boulevard in Silver Spring for almost 50 years. She also served as a volunteer for almost 20 years at the Smithsonian Institute Archives as a historic image cataloguer.
Zoe loved spending time with family, playing bridge, traveling, and visiting with friends from SSPC or even with friends she kept in touch with over the years from Ticonderoga, NY. She was always there for her family during milestone events and holidays with many laughs and stories while playing cards, working on jigsaw puzzles, and other family activities. She loved her time with family and friends at the beach or on the lakes of upstate New York.
Zoe is survived by her son Lloyd Richard Martindale III (Sharon Cooper); her son Paul Andrew Martindale (Catherine Goddard); and her daughter Cynthia Ann Snider; her grandson Michael Fassbach (Brandon Dart), her granddaughter Katherine Fassbach, her granddaughter Melanie Martindale (Garrett Welch), her granddaughter Nicole Snider (Mefi Monteros), her granddaughter Lindsey Snider, her granddaughter Casey Martindale, her grandson Jason Martindale and her grandson David Martindale. Mrs. Martindale also leaves behind great grandchildren; Alyssa, Nicholas, Nathanial, and Josephine.
Zoe was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Richard Martindale Jr in 1984 to whom she was married to for 27 years.
A visitation for Zoe will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
