Dear Mrs. Ascher, and all of your friends and family-
I have just learned of your passing, and I wanted to say a few words regarding the mark you made on my life. You and Mr. Ascher were so kind during the time we knew you in Powers Lake, when we were neighbors in the Knolls. It was so comforting having other Members of the Tribe as people who welcomed us, as that wasn't always the case with others. A few cookies after swimming meant the world to me- you were Grandma, or Bubbe, when mine wasn't there.
In your later years, when I brought my little ones to visit on Lake Shore Drive, you passed that sense of awe and wonder to my own little girls-why would this lady they didn't know be so friendly and courteous, for no apparent reason? That was just Mrs. Ascher.
I read of your exploits for years in your synagogue newsletter, knitting for the needy. I hope the end was easy for you, since I'm sure all would agree you earned it in your 104 years of making the world a better place.
I love you, and I miss you, Dorothy Ascher. I hope you are at peace, and say hi to Frank for me. He was pretty special, too.

My condolences to your family. Tho I didn't know her personally Dorothy must have been a wonderful person from what I have read here. She and Frank knew my parents and attended my father's funeral and signed the registry book. Today I was contacted by a member of Geni who's mother-in-law attended Dorothy's funeral and thought we may have been related, forwarding this link to me. I am the niece of Irv Ascher, Frank's brother. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this sad time.

Dear Family of Beloved Dorothy Ascher,
What a precious human being. I met her through the Mather Lifeway luncheons and gravitated to her warm and friendly manner and smile. We promised each other to stay in touch and have for some time now. When last we talked I was to come over next door(we live in adjacent buildings) after her daughter left . Time has a way of getting past us and now this beautiful, delightful lady has left us. What a long rich life was given to her and she deserved every moment of it and all the accolades that accompanied her throughout the more and hundred years she graced this Earth. I shall miss her and look forward to meeting her family tomorrow. My heart and love go out to those who loved her. Always, Dorothy Doherty (DeeDee)

My condolences to you on the loss of your mother and grandmother. I grew up in the Knolls in Wisconsin and I have wonderful memories of Mr. and Mrs. Ascher. You probably all know how Mr. Ascher used to make us "hop like bunnies" to earn Black Jack gum! Mrs. Ascher was always so kind and loving to all of us kids. I'll always remember her as such. I'm very sorry for your loss, your whole family will be in my prayers during this difficult time.
