
Lisa Hirschfelder, age 99; beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother,grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 14, 2014. Born in Germany to Max and Hermine Heumann in 1915, joining her older brother Walter, she grew up enjoying her school studies, skiing, social activities and strong friendships. She met and married the love of her life, the late Richard Hirschfelder, in 1936. They soon emigrated from Nazi Germany to the United States, settling in Chicago and successfully rebuilding their lives in a new land. Lisa displayed a loving and generous spirit and zest for life. She was a world traveler, voracious reader, and applied her love of language tutoring students in German. Active in ORT and in Self Help, she was always cognizant of and generous toward the welfare of others a devoted matriarch, she will be sorely missed by her children, Susan (Harold) Wise and Barbara (William) Ascher, along with her grandchildren Lauren (Ross) Fischoff, Alan (Tracy) Wise, Robin (Justin) Sheperd, Diana Ascher, Julia Ascher, David (Negin) Ascher. Great-grandchildren Evan and Naomi Fischoff, Allison and Elizabeth Wise, Issac and Daniel Sheperd, Ariana Storm Ascher, Hannah and Macabee Ascher will all cherish her memory. She also enjoyed loving relationships with and will be greatly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services, Tuesday 11:00 AM at the Piser Chapel, 9200 N Skokie Blvd. (at Church St.), Skokie, IL.
