

Al was born on Feb. 9, 1949 , the son of Marion (Desourdy) and Alfred Loadwick in Holyoke, MA. Al was educated at Morse School in Cambridge Mass., In 1962 the family moved to Pike, NH where he continued his education at Haverhill Academy in Haverhill, NH. During his early adult years he worked at various jobs, farming, shoe making, and making furniture. In 1978 he enlisted in the Air Force working in personnel for 19 years having been awarded the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received many medals of accommodations, retiring in 1994.
After retiring from the military, Al began a business known as Big Al's Collectibles. Everyone who knew him knew him as the ”Lego Man”. He was an outdoor sportsman, loved gardening, and going to yard sales.
Al is survived by his wife of 25 years. His son Alfred R. (Bobby) Loadwick, his wife Denise and their children Nathaniel, Christopher, and Mackenzie of PA, son Joseph (Joey) Loadwick of NJ, brothers Charles “Chick” of Skowhegan, Richard “Rick” and wife Annie of Mercer, Tina Boudreau of Anson, Debbie Savage of PA; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan from 9 to 11AM on Monday, Nov. 29 followed by a traditional Mass of Christian Burial at the funeral home. Burial will be on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 10 AM at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mount Vernon Rd. Augusta with full military honors.
