
Our dear mother Anastasia “Stasia” T. Algiere,died peacefully this past Friday January 8,2016 at the age of 97. As we celebrate her life we are grateful for the many years with her and the unconditional love and support she gave to all her family.
She was the loving wife of Nattie Algiere, married in 1937 until he passed away March 5 1995.
Her parents were Dominick and Johanna (Przekop) Cholodowski. Stasia was born in Norwich May 10 1918 and lived at 342 Boswell Avenue until 2002 when she moved to Canaan, Maine with her daughter.
Her vocation in life was to be a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and in addition she worked outside the home at the Thermos Company and the job she enjoyed most the Community Bakery downtown Norwich.
She dedicated her life to her family, enjoyed baking, tending her flower gardens, playing with her grandchildren, as well as sewing and knitting. Later in her life she enjoyed oil painting.
She is survived by her children Marjorie Whipple of Skowhegan Maine,Mary Ann and Stan
Rousseau of Hillsboro Beach Fl., and John and Kathryn Algiere of Lisbon CT, she is also survived by her loving sister Sister Antonia Marie Cholodowski of The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth of Philadelphia. In addition she leaves many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law Nelson Whipple and her siblings Stella Gimbut,John Cholodowski, Julia Mazarelli and Stasia’s special sister-in-law Jean Cholodowski.
A private burial will be arranged by her family in the springtime.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
