John, Julie, Jeff and Larry:
So sorry to read of Mom's passing in the newspaper, we sat and reflected about our memories of Mom.
Mike remembers working for Lee as a teenager spreading manure building fence, the typical farm chores...at lunchtime Lee would say "come in for lunch" he remembers the great cook Mom was.
Or how about being the basketball team "taxi" back in the day when Don Holmstrom was the coach.
Or how about Mom doing my hair for our wedding in 1976.
We still call the farmhouse Lee and Arnita's and how the house was decorated at Christmas with blue lights, Mom's favorite color?
Isn't it amazing the things we remember, you were all fortunate to have her as your Mom.
Know she will be remembered always.
Rest in Peace Arnita and thank you for all you did.
Hugs to all, Mike & Betsy

I remember Arnita with such fond memories. As a kid growing up in Canaan, we leased pasture land to Lee Jewell and Arnita sometimes accompanied Lee when they’d come down to the farm.
I remember that Arnita had a big laugh and she was always nice to my sister and I. And I thought she was so pretty.
I always visited with her for a bit at town meetings and she would hold onto my hand and ask about my sister. And she would always reminisce a bit about my parents and Lee.
Ten or twelve years ago when we were trying to prevent Canaan Grange from going under, I would contact Arnita to make sure she’d come to the dinners at the hall. She was happy to be called and sometimes came to the dinner. I was always so happy to see her and she certainly seemed happy to see me. Childhood memories are sweet and Arnita was always sweet to me. I feel lucky to have known her.

I was very sad to hear of her passing. She was a cousin, even though we were 25 years apart. We didn't see each other much over the years, but I did re-connect with her at a family reunion a few years back. It was great to see her there. When I was a kid, I remember her as being a fun person. I want her family to know I am thinking of them and sad to know that she will be missed by everyone.

Anita was very helpful and supportive of Canaan Elementary back in the days when I was a teaching principal and coach there. She along with several other parents helped us to get to our sports team’s away games and practices. She did her share of rooting for us when we played too! John, Julie, Jeff and Larry I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. Don Holmstrom

Your mother is large part of you childhood memories. I remember her wonderful laugh and big smile. She always gave me small tubes of lipstick, Avon I believe. Thinking of your family and your loss.
