

Beatrice was born June 15, 1921 in Sheridan now incorporated with Ashland, Maine. Bea was the daughter of the late Andrew and Eugenie (Gagne) Michaud. She grew up in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School class of 1939.
Bea was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold Boardman, who passed away Oct. 26, 1998. They were married in Lewiston, Me. on April 27, 1941. Together they built a faithful marriage, a comforting home and a loving close-knit family. Above all, this is what made Bea proud and brought her joy. Many loved ones predeceased Bea, her parents, five sisters, and two brothers. She was the last surviving member of her birth family.
Bea was very active in her community having served five years on the MSAD#54 School Board of Education and as an Election Clerk for the Town of Skowhegan. She served on the committee to re-elect Margaret Chase Smith and was a hostess at the opening of the Margaret Chase Smith Library. Bea also headed the committee that was instrumental in bringing the concept of a Town Planning Board to the town of Skowhegan, which was sponsored by the Semper Fidelis Club.
Bea was a past president of the Semper Fidelis Club and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years.
A hostess for 20 seasons at Lakewood Summer Theater, Bea thoroughly enjoyed working with the public. So much so that she also worked as Hostess and Dining Room Manager for Grants Bradford House Restaurant for 10 years.
Surviving members of the family are her six children: Ronald Boardman and his wife Deborah of Saratoga Springs, NY; Douglas Boardman and his wife Annette (Sylvain) of Skowhegan; Richard Boardman and his wife Sally (Bolduc) of Scarborough; Jeanne (Boardman) Hogate and her husband Melvin of Cornville; Brian Boardman and his wife Lennette (Lawson) of Madison; and Thomas Boardman of Northfield, NH., as well as 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
At Bea’s and her family’s request, no service will be held. A private graveside ceremony will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at noon on Friday November 2, 2012 where Bea will be placed next to her beloved husband Harold.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
