1941-2014

Skowhegan- Carlton E. Steward “Sonny”, 73 of Skowhegan, passed away at home on June 18, 2014 with his family by his side.

He was born on January 5, 1941 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Carlton Steward and Erma Steward.

He was educated in the Skowhegan schools.

He worked for Smokey’s Greater Shows for 27 years. He has spent the last of his years junking and shoveling roofs off in the winter time; he had a close friend who he worked for in the winter time, Randy Dionne, at Ken’s Family Restaurant. He was part of Madison’s and Skowhegan’s Fire Department for 16 years. He is also a lifetime member of the Eagle’s Club, and he worked part time as a crossing guard for the Skowhegan Police Department.

He enjoys watching WWE, as well as spending time with his family, especially when it comes to his grandchildren’s games.

He is survived by his soul mate Marion, of Skowhegan, his companion and best friend, his dog, Wyatt, 5 kids: Patricia Gerry and her spouse, Anthony Gerry, of Etna, Darren Miller and his spouse, Cathy, of Augusta, Jefferey Miller and his spouse, Sue, of Lisbon Falls, CJ Miller of Skowhegan, Candy Prentiss and her spouse, Mark, of Skowhegan; 2 step kids: Rhonda Davis and her spouse, Steve, of Skowhegan, Kenny Steward and his spouse, Sara Holt, “Bucket” of Skowhegan; Siblings: Arnold Steward and his wife, Jackie, of Madison, Joyce Dunn of Skowhegan, Clifford Steward and his companion, Irene, of Wellington, Lawrence Steward and his wife, Sharon, of Wellington, Terry Steward and his wife, Janice, of Skowhegan, Bobby Steward and his wife, Nadene, of Madison; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a great niece, Courtney Kronillis and her companion, Dave Danforth, of Solon.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, 2 daughters, Sandy Steward and Candy Steward, and 2 brothers, Gary Steward and Darrell Steward 1 sister, Patricia Steward.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave. Skowhegan, Maine.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home.
