Christopher was born on September 28, 1967, in Waterville, ME, to Ernest R. Merry Jr. and Beverly P. Waye Merry. He attended elementary school in Norridgewock and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1987.
Christopher lived an independent and modest life. Early in his life he was an avid roller-skater. He always enjoyed a good joke or finding humor in someone’s folly, as long as no one was hurt. He enjoyed helping friends work on vehicles, especially racecars. Many good times were spent at raceways in Unity, Wiscasset and Bangor.
Christopher spent much of his adult life working a variety of jobs in the central Maine area, but especially enjoyed working for AtWork Recruiting and Staffing as a traffic control flagger. He would travel wherever he was needed, often many miles from his home. He took pride in being a dependable and reliable employee.
Christopher’s greatest pleasures came from spending time with close friends playing cards, and attending every family function including reunions, weddings, picnics, and all holiday parties. He was always concerned about the welfare of family and friends.
Christopher was predeceased by his parents, and infant brother Earl Merry.
Christopher is survived by his sisters Cheryll Merry of Norridgewock, Jodi Merry (Chris Plourde) of Madison, Laurie Merry (Rob Savage) of Madison, and brother, Joel Merry (Donna) of West Bath; as well as many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews and cousins. He was especially close to his niece, Cassie Allen of Norridgewock and his cat, Shadow. He will be greatly missed by his close friends Scott Caswell, Scott Black and Mickey Landry.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice, as well as the staff of RiverRidge Center for providing comfort and care during his final days.
A visitation hour will be held on Friday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, with a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. A private burial service will be held at the East Madison Cemetery.
