East Madison - Clark A. Connelly, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010. He was at his favorite place in the world, on his porch, overlooking Lake Wesserunsett, surrounded by family, after a beautiful sunny day of telling stories and jokes.
Clark was born in Hartland at Scott Webb Hospital, son of Daniel and Norma Connelly on December 1, 1934. He graduated from Hartland Academy and graduated from the University of Maine. He joined the Army, where he became a lieutenant. He worked as a United States Customs Officer for 33 years. Clark married the love of his life, Rena Levesque Connelly in 1963. They settled in Jackman and raised four children together. After Clark retired from the US Customs Service, they moved to his family cottage in East Madison, making it a year round home.
Clark was predeceased by his parents and wife.
Clark is survived by his four children, Daniel and wife Kimberly of Skowhegan; Sandra Cook and husband Tracy of Corinth, Susan Allen and husband Danny of Jackman; (John) Jack and wife Dawn of Michigan; 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1brother John and wife Joan of Hartland, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind one very special companion, a German Shepherd named Max.
Clark loved his family, camp, gun collection, good home cooking, watching baseball and long visits from friends and family. In the past few years, he enjoyed his grandchildren more each day and found humor in the little things they said.
Viewing hours will be held on Thursday August 5, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, viewing hours will also be held on Friday August 6, 2010 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Island Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A funeral service will be held at the church at 1 p.m., the burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan.
Burial arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
