

He was born October 12, 1932 in Burlington, Maine, the son of the late Harry Soucie and Myrtle (Sibley) Soucie, his adopted parents who raised him, Willard Thompson and Myra (Soucie) Thompson.
He married Marion (Withee) Thompson, they were married June 17, 1953 in Skowhegan, Maine, they were married for 52 years, and she passed away on February 9, 2006.
He graduated from Skowhegan High School in the class of 1951 as class president; while in high school he was co-captain of Skowhegan’s first, un-tied, undefeated football team in 1950. He is in the Skowhegan Football Hall of Fame. He later graduated from the University of South Florida in 1977 with a degree in education. David served in the US Air Force where he was stationed in Hawaii for 4 years, California, Florida, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Brunswick Naval Air Station during his service of 22 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sargent.
He then taught at Rumford High School Vocational Region #9 in the metal trades for 20 years retiring in 1996.
David enjoyed his weekends at camp with his niece Lisa, Mark Jake and Dustin, fishing, boating, loved to play golf, and most of all spending time by the camp fire. Some of his favorite past times were mornings at McDonalds with his buddy’s and shopping for bargains at the Dollar Tree. He cherished his moments with his grandchildren Keegan, Chase, McKenna, Gavin and Jaxson. David also looked forward to the holidays and family time with Ashley, Amy and Joshua.
He was survived by his brother Garry and his wife Joyce, many brothers and sister’s in-laws, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, and siblings.
A time of gathering and sharing of memories will be held on Sunday January 29, 2012 from 12 – 3 p.m. at David’s home, 44 Pooler Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
Burial will take place at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
