

Born May 6, 1948 in Skowhegan, he was the son of the late Raymond and Villa (Keene) Finley of Skowhegan.
Donald was a graduate of Skowhegan Area High School and the University of Maine at Orono. Upon graduation from college, he entered the United States Army where he served his country in Vietnam from 1970 to 1972.
After his military service Donald began a long, devoted 35 year career of teaching and coaching. His involvement with many facets of the Athletic Program at Skowhegan Area High School included Football Statistician from 1982 to 2012 and Basketball Scorekeeper from 1980 to 2012. In 2003, after a much loved career of coaching baseball, he was proudly inducted into the Maine Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. In 2012, he accepted the position of Athletic Director for Skowhegan Area High School; a position he excelled at and one that he found to be very fulfilling.
Donald married the former Sharon Lanctot in 1994. The couple settled in their hometown of Skowhegan, where they were happily married for 21 years.
Don was an avid golfer, over the years; he had three hole-in-ones. He also loved snow-shoeing and hiking different mountains all over the state.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Peter.
Along with his wife Sharon, Donald is survived by his brother Raymond Finley and his wife Mary of Skowhegan; sister Jean Doughty of Wilton; sister-in-law Donna Finley of Skowhegan, mother-in-law Ella White of Skowhegan; brother-in-law Peter White and wife Laura of Auburn; and several very dear nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Skowhegan Area High School, 61 Academy Circle, Skowhegan, Maine. A private committal service will be held in the spring at the Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan.
