Donald L Laney

He was born September 30, 1936 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Theophille Laney and Irene (White) Laney Williams.

Don graduated from Skowhegan Area High School’s Adult Education Program in 1977.

From 1979 through 1990 he worked as road foreman for the Town of Norridgewock. He also worked on his uncles farm A. Ernest Laney for 20 years transporting milk from the farm directly to the customer and he also did many other jobs around the farm. And from 1990- 1998 Don repaired small engines from his shop at home.

He was a member of the Abnaki Snowmobile Club, member of the United Bikers of Maine, and past member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle and he also enjoyed scuba diving.

He is survived by his wife Janet of Norridgwock, two sons, Troy Laney and his wife Cindy of Starks, Donald R. McLaughlin and his wife Linda of Derry, NH; Step-daughter, Linda Swett and her husband Garry of Athens; his grandchildren, Paul Mullen of Cornville, Anthony Laney of Canaan, Mickella Laney of Embden, Shakora Laney of Norridgewock; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Elaine Young of Hampden several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved cat “Miss Kitty”.

He is predeceased by his parents, his first wife Phyllis, and his brother Richard.

A graveside service will be held in the Spring at the East Skowhegan Cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
