Skowhegan – Doris M. Corson, 93, passed away peacefully in the evening hours of June 11, 2021 with her family by her side. Doris was born in Norridgewock on May 5, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Susan (Berry) Knights.
Doris was a longtime resident of Skowhegan, marrying her husband Glen D. Corson on September 7, 1946. In March of 1982, Glen passed away unexpectedly and Doris stayed strong and relentless. She took care of her family and stayed very much independent until recently. Part of that strength could have come from her devotion to god and her strong Christian faith.
She worked as a Clerk for the Skowhegan Community Action before retiring in 1991. After retirement, Doris focused on spending more time with family, whether it was family gatherings around the holidays or being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; that was something she truly loved. She also enjoyed going camping, crocheting, knitting and decorating for the holidays.
Doris will be deeply missed and is survived by her son, Larry Corson; daughter, Lana Caswell and Husband Ronnie; five grandchildren, Nicole Ginka, Jason Caswell, Blaine Corson, Shana Corson and Stacy Demerchant; great grandchildren, Camryn, Jade, Dylan, Jaida, Camron, Connor, Sage, Maya and Suri; four great-great grandchildren; sister, Joan Finnermore and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Glen Corson; daughter, Linda Corson; sisters, Minerva Halliday and Lucy Knights and her brothers, Charles and David Knights.
A Celebration of Doris’ life will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow at Smart and Edwards funeral home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, ME.
