Edward “Larry” Crane, 77, of Cornville passed away Sunday May 27, 2018 at E.M.M.C in Bangor, Maine surrounded by his family. Born July 10, 1940 in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Edward A. Crane and Bernice M. (Patterson) Crane-Beckwith.
Larry married his high school sweetheart Carol Wiley on October 29, 1960 in East Providence, Rhode Island.
He retired from Electric Boat in Quonset Point, a division of General Dynamics in Groton, CT and was an Iron Worker of Local 57 for many years in East Providence, R.I.
He moved to the State of Maine 30 years ago to be close to his parents and found his true home here. He loved gardening, 4 wheeling, the time he spent with his grandchildren, was a member director for MSA for many years, an avid snowmobiler, a NASCAR fan, loved boating, and loved his retirement hobby of owning and operating L & C Lobster, Inc., selling lobsters in the summer months and live bait in the winter.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Carol; his son, Edward Michael Crane and his spouse Robin of Solon, Maine; grandsons, Thomas, Dakota and Michael Crane all of Solon; step-grandson, Kenneth Couto of E. Providence, RI; step-granddaughter, Heather Hutchins and her partner Donald Chretien of Solon; step-great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Kabella, Lakelan, Adallyn; his brother Ronald F. Crane of Bristol, RI; a special granddaughter Kiva Patchell of Athens, and numerous nieces and several cousins.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by, his step father Phillip Beckwith; sister Carol J. Brandon; and step-grandson in law Cpl. Andrew Hutchins.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine where a private service will take place with family.
The family would like to thank all for their continued support and well wishes for his recovery during the last 18 months. Especially, all those who went above and beyond in their friendship to Larry and his family.
