SKOWHEGAN – Evelyn Ruth (Scott) Moore Bartos, 87 of Skowhegan went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital surrounded by many of her family members.
She was born on September 16, 1926 in Skowhegan the daughter of Walter and Emeline Scott.
She graduated from Madison High School class of 1944. She married Elwood D. Moore in 1945 and they raised four children. After his passing in 1972 she married Leon “Bart” Bartos.
Evelyn was a stay at home mother until all of her children were in school. She worked in the cafeteria at Skowhegan Area High School, in the office of the Maine Spinning Company, Philbrick’s Insurance Company and she retired from the Maine Department of Labor Unemployment Office.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a strong and remarkable woman who always gave willingly, expecting nothing in return. She was loved by all who knew her.
Evelyn and Bart enjoyed dancing, camping and vacationing together. She enjoyed playing games such as bridge and scrabble, listening to music, attending sporting events and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Evelyn was a member of Crossroads Bible Church. She loved her church family, attending church functions, singing songs of praise and reading her Bible.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Terrence Moore and wife Beverly of Harrisville, NY; daughter, Nicola Burgess and husband Ed of Skowhegan; daughter, Lisa LeBlanc and husband Neil of Madison; daughter-in-law, Linda Moore of Camden; stepson Richard Bartos and wife Beth of Richmond, NH; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, several nieces and their families; and many close friends. It is with special appreciation that Evelyn’s family recognizes dear friend Bea Paul for her love and kindness and for the unselfish care she gave Evelyn over the last few years.
She was predeceased by her parents; both husbands; stillborn daughter, Vanessa; son, Elwood “Chip” Moore, II; brothers, Charles and Russell Scott; sister, Marion Kelly; and daughter-in-law Lynda Moore.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Crossroads Bible Church, Madison. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10 am until the time of the service. Interment will be private at a later date.
