

Guinevere Lambert, age 96, of Mercer, Maine passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Guinevere was born on January 18, 1927 in Mercer at her family home on Chicken Street (Elm Street) to Alton Smith and Helen Grace Owens. She was one of seven children. Her siblings include Myron (wife Josephine) of Oakland, Beverly Bulmer (husband Gerald) of Smithfield, Lee (wife Charlene) of Skowhegan, and James (wife Dawn) of Norridgewock. Two other siblings that have both passed away were her oldest brother Harold and her half-sister Florence Stacey.
Guinevere graduated from Mercer Grammar School and then Norridgewock High School in 1944. On June 15, 1946, Guinevere married Gerald Lambert of Norridgewock, who passed away in June 1995, and they raised five wonderful children: Dennis (wife Sharon), Janice Corson, Timothy (wife Laurie), Joanne Obert (husband Dennis) and Nancy Munn (husband Darrell). She is known as Gram to her 10 grandchildren: Scott, Diana, Jill, Staci, Garrett, Craig, Keri, Nick, Stephanie, and Paula and as More Mammie to her 13 great-grandchildren, which include: Ashley, Ryan, Breanna, Sammie, Dylan, Allie, Caleb, Sarah, Marina, Princess Guin, Addie, Riley and Parker. When the grandkids went for their license, she told them how she had to use her father's dump truck to get her license.
Guin was a housewife for 18 years, and then she went to work at Norrwock Shoe, Medwed Footwear, Lighthouse Footwear, and Dexter Shoe before retiring in 1995. Guin loved to sew, making beautiful quilts for all her children and grandchildren, and other items such as hats and mittens and various crafts. She also liked doing puzzles and crossword puzzles, and she enjoyed her soap operas.
Guin has traveled to Niagara Falls, Tennessee, North Carolina, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick, Canada visiting with family and friends along the way.
