He was born July 31, 1930 in Torrington, Connecticut, the son of Harold L. Sr. and Lorretta (Roreback) Bailey.
Harold was educated in Connecticut schools.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
He married the former Eva T. Asklar on November 22, 1956 in Torrington, Connecticut.
Harold worked as a district manager for Chevron in Winston, CT, and then PerthAmboy, NJ, worked for Webber Oil Company in Madison, Maine, then he owned and operated HL Bailey Oil, Inc, in Madison, Maine, he sold in 1985, and he owned and operated Harold L. Bailey Oil Company in Madison, Maine retiring in 2009.
He was a past member of the Kiwanis Hall in Madison and he served as president for a year. He enjoyed the outdoors and animals were his passion.
He is survived by his beloved wife Eva T. Bailey of Madison, his children; Susan Schena and her husband Bob of Whitefield, Diane Daggett and her husband Sonny of New Vineyard, Linda Magurn and her husband Jim of Solon, his grandchildren; Christopher Ireland and his wife Brandi of Clinton, Terri Anne Meader of Wilton, Heather Magurn of Skowhegan, Patrick Magurn of Solon, Russell Magurn of Solon, great-grandchildren; Karter and Jayden Meader of Wilton, brother Frank Bailey and his wife Caroline of Winston, CT, many nieces and nephews; special pets he adored Sandy, Missy, and Goldie, and his very close friend and fishing buddy Douglas Hoskins of Madison.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, with Father John Mazzei officiating. A burial will be held at a later date at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison.
