
He was born June 23, 1933 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son Juliette Lessard, and he spent the majority of his life in Skowhegan.
Joe served our country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper.
Joe married Arlene Caron June 20, 1953 and she predeceased him in 2011.
Joe worked for many years at Alco Packing as a meat cutter and he also worked for Paul and Bill Mushero Construction.
He was a 40 year member of the American Legion. He also enjoyed loved fishing, camping, and hunting and especially enjoyed doing them with his family.
He is survived by his children Donna Foster and her husband George of Skowhegan, Christy Caron of Fairfield, Joseph Lessard Jr. and his partner Traci Young Breton, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, Thursday November 7, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St., Skowhegan, Maine. A burial will be held in the spring at the St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Maine Veterans Home Nursing Staff in Augusta, Maine.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
