Williamson, Maxine Yeaton, 87, of Norridgewock died April 16, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. Born on Jan. 30, 1927 on the farm in Mercer, she was the daughter of Florian E. and Lue (Bigelow) Yeaton.
She attended Norridgewock schools and graduated from Norridgewock High School. She married Ernold E. Williamson on March 30, 1946 in Skowhegan.
Maxine was a member of the First Congregational Church in Norridgewock and a lifetime member of the Norridgewock Historical Society. She worked at Norrwock Shoe and New Balance, Pooch Hilton Drug Store, Melville Wallace Gas Station and the Canning Factory on Depot St in Norrigewock, retiring from work at the age of 62. She loved tending to her vegetable garden, raised chickens, bean, and squash, canning and freezing the vegetables from her garden. She loved to sing, travel, and was very musical; playing any instrument by ear. She enjoyed watching wildlife from the deck or window on the farm. She was well known for her yeast rolls, biscuits, whoopie pies, chocolate donuts, and fruit pies. Her children remember that their mother always baked 2 strawberry pies, because Dad would always eat one whole pie just as soon as it came out of the oven.
Maxine was predeceased by her husband Ernold, Aug. 3, 2000, her parents, a grandson, Sean Burke, and her siblings, Winfield Yeaton, Winston Yeaton and his wife Peggy, Alice Joseph and her husband James, and Lorraine Wallace and her husband Melville.
She is survived by her son, Lynn Williamson and his wife Carol, son, Eric Williamson, daughter, Cheryl Burke, Grandsons, Shane Williamson and his wife Sonya and Jon Williamson and his wife Bridget, great grandchildren, Cody and Shantelle Williamson and Samira Tuttle, a sister-in-law, Colleen (Winfield) Yeaton, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins and too many friends to name.
The family would like to thank caregivers, Sue Eames, Jill Keller, and Heather Davis along with a very special thank you to Linda Cole, who was a devoted companion to mother. Linda could always bring a smile to mother’s face every day. Mother loved the song, “In the Garden” and you could walk in the house anytime and hear mother and Linda singing the song.
Donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Norridgewock or the Norridgewock Historical Society.
