Wellington and Lowell, MA—Michael Philip Regan, 65, died Sept 15, 2014 peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born April 13, 1949 in Lowell, MA a son of Paul E. and Mary V. (Goulding) Regan.
Mike grew up in Lowell, MA attending Keith Academy, Lowell and graduating from Newman Prep, Boston and attended Mt. Wachusette College, Gardiner, MA. He moved to Wellington in the late 1970s, making his home and raising his children. Mike will be fondly and lovingly remembered for his story telling ability, humorous quick wit, and loving spirit. He was an avid sports fan, with a love for the Patriots and Red Sox. He enjoyed harness racing, and had a love for music, especially Van Morrison. He loved the woods and the land and was a gentleman farmer.
Above all else, family was important to Mike. Material items never mattered as long as the love of his family was present. He truly loved his family and extended family. He was his kids’ first coach and would meet each one at the edge of the ball field, Gatorade in hand. Later in life he became Grampy, and then GG, and each child held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 43 years, Thelma M. (Shottes) Regan; five children Argo Michael Regan and his wife Betsy of Old Town; Kif A. Lopez and her husband Ramiro of Lawndale, CA, Paul E. Regan and his wife Beth of Dayton; Cassady G. Regan and Bryant Farrar of Center Pond; and Colita B. Pica and her husband Jason of Portland; nine grandchildren Dyanne Gillespie-Regan and partner Travis Patterson, Amanda Cleary and her husband Balakw, Adam and Nate Regan; Alyssa, Christopher and Liam Lopez, Acadia and Finnegan Regan; a great granddaughter Mackenzie; a sister Sally Slattery and her husband Bud of Hampton Beach, NH; brother Mark Regan and his wife Rhonda of Lowell, MA; aunt Ann King of Nashua, NH, many nieces, nephews, and a very large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers Francis, Paul, and Philip and one sister Marie Claremont.
Friends may call 4-8 Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. A celebration of Mike’s life will be conducted 1PM Saturday at the Burdin’s Corner Chapel, Parkman Road, Wellington.
