

Paul Norman Laverdiere, 94, of Scarborough and Skowhegan passed away on July 20, 2023 after health complications due to old age. Paul was born in Livermore Falls, November 21, 1928 to Joseph and Leatitia (LaPointe) Laverdiere.
After graduating from Livermore Falls High School in 1949, Paul enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Puson Korea during the Korean War.
After the war, Paul went to Southern Maile Technical College (SMTC) and got his first job as a machinist working many years for Keys Fibre Machine Shop. He met and fell in love with Harriet Sturtevant, they were married in 1955 and were with each other through all of life’s ups and downs. Paul and Harriet would go on to have 5 children, Patricia, Letitia, Douglas, Andy and Peter Laverdiere. Paul was a devoted father, husband and brother. He always taught his children to enjoy life and supported them throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of their lives. When Paul wasn’t working, he could be found swimming bowling, golfing, fishing at family reunions or at the Sturtevant seashore camp. An avid golfer, Paul dedicated much of his time to a round of golf on various golf courses in Maine.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Harriet Laverdiere; daughters, Patricia Cyr and Letitia Laverdiere; sons, Douglas, Andrew and Peter Laverdiere; 4 grandchildren, Julia Cyr, Brittany Wassick, Stephanie Brady, Jessica Brennan; and 6 great grandchildren, Emma Nelson, Cassandra Brennan, MacKenzie Brady, Brennan Brady, Bailian Brennan, Adaline Brennan; sisters in law, Marie, Carol, Patricia, Gail (Bamford) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his grandson, Frederick Brennan; brothers, Raymond, Wilfred “Fo Fo”, Roger, Maurice, Jospeph “Pete” and Robert; sister, Lauren McCobb; sister in law, Faye Ann Laverdiere; brother in law, Donald McCobb; nieces, Cindy Lee Laverdiere and Carmen Laverdiere; and Paul’s in laws, Frederick and Clarice Sturtevant.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 11 AM at Veilleux and Redington Funeral Home located at 8 Elm Street, Waterville ME. A graveside service will be held for the family at Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta at a later date.
