Richard J. Steinberger of Hallowell, Maine passed away on September 30, 2018, age 83. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eldena Fowke Steinberger of Hallowell, Maine, and his daughter and son-in-law, Susan Mello and George Mello of Belmont, New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews.
Originally from Easthampton, Massachusetts, Richard graduated from Wentworth Institute with a degree in electronics in 1955. He served his country as a sergeant in the Army Reserve. He lived in Hudson, Massachusetts for 43 years before retiring to Maine. He worked as an electronics engineer and quality control manager at Data Instruments in Acton, Massachusetts for 42 years.
Richard loved the outdoors and enjoyed bicycling, canoeing, gardening, kayaking, sailing, swimming, and snorkeling. He especially enjoyed his annual family vacations to Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire. Richard enjoyed all kinds of music and played trumpet in his youth. He enjoyed radios, railroads and repairing antique clocks.
A private family graveside will be held at the convenience of the family in Skowhegan, Maine at the Southside Cemetery.
