Bob was born on May 1, 1928 in Skowhegan, the son of Joseph and Edna (Lanctot) Lapointe.
He graduated from Skowhegan High School and Bloomfield Academy, class of 1945.
Bob entered the U.S. Navy shortly after graduating high school, he was in during World War II. He was on the USS Ticonderoga during his deployment. He was awarded several metals during his time in the military. He received the World War II Victory Metal, the American Area Metal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theathre Medal.
Bob was first married to Angie (Dunton) Lapointe, she died in 2000. He then, met and married Geraldine (Frederick) Greenleaf on Sept. 21, 2007 in Norridgewock.
Bob’s first employment was with the Maine Spinning Mill in Skowhegan for several years. Bob was then hired by Graffman’s Auto Supply, which later became Motor Supply in Skowhegan. Bob spent many years working for the Graffman and York families, he retired in the mid nineties.
He enjoyed going brook fishing, watching and feeding the birds at his home, playing cards, he played cribbage every morning with his wife Gerrie, going out to eat, mowing his lawn and being in the out doors. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine “Gerrie” Greenleaf-Lapointe of Norridgewock, step children; Sammy Lyons of Skowhegan, Tami Greenleaf of Norridgewock, and Roberta Greenleaf-Richardson of Fairfield, step grandchildren; Barry Lyons Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Skowhegan, Timothy Lyons and his wife, Pauline of Rangeley, Robie Lyons and his wife, Tammy of Rome, Wendy McGowan and her husband, Kevin of Skowhegan, Katherine Billings and her husband, Richard of Nebraska, Danielle Miller and her husband, Andrew of Nebraska, and Nathan L. Richardson of Fairfield, step great grandchildren; Melissa, Heather, Ethan, Tyler, Brandon, Seth, and Shelby, Marinda, Vincent, Lucas, Noah, Bradley, and Ashlee, four great great grandchildren, four brothers, Francis Lapointe and his wife, Shirley of Skowhegan, Paul Lapointe and his wife, Phyllis of Skowhegan, Arthur Lapointe of Skowhegan, and George Lapointe of Skowhegan, one sister, Anita Lancaster and her husband, Norman of Skowhegan, many Nieces and Nephews, and many good friends.
He is predeceased by one sister, Rita Spencer, two sister-in-laws, Leona Lapointe, and Ruth Lapointe.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
A Graveside service will be on Wednesday, June 13, at 1:00 pm at the Union Cemetery, Rte 201 in Moscow, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
