Beatrice E. (Crabtree) Young, 95, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2013, at her home in Snohomish, Washington, surrounded by family and close friends. Bea was born January 20, 1918 in Shelby, Montana, to James A. Crabtree and Albertina Frances (Altman) Crabtree. Bea graduated from high school in Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1935. She then attended Beauty School in Oregon. While working in Klamath Falls, Oregon, she met Gilbert L. Jonas. They were married in Reno, Nevada in 1939. Bea and Gil had four children: Kay, Bill, Judy, and Ron. The family settled in Thompson Falls, Montana in the early 1950s. Bea owned and operated a beauty salon in town for many years. While in Montana, they enjoyed hunting, fishing, and picnicking as a family. In 1965, the family moved to Bothell, Washington. Tragically, in 1974 Gil died in an automobile accident. Bea returned to Thompson Falls in 1975 and was later married Donald R. Young in 1978. Don and Bea were happily married until his death in 1995. During her marriage to Don, they were very active in horse racing, as well as breeding and raising their own horses. Most will remember Bea as a wonderful woman who loved to laugh, was always smiling, and was the happiest when with her family. She truly was the matriarch of the family. Bea is survived by her daughter Kay Landwehr, Pahrump, Nevada; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Laurie Jonas, Mesa, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Gary Pritzkau, Snohomish, Washington; son, Ron Jonas, Bothell, Washington; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at Swans Trail, 5511 64th St SE, Snohomish, Washington, at 2PM. Graveside services and burial will be at Thompson Falls Cemetery in Thompson Falls, Montana, at 1PM, September 21, 2013.
