Daniel Bruce Johnson Sr., 81, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with his Lord on November 19, 2016, with his family by his side. Dan was born on August 12, 1935, in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Glenn and Ellen Johnson. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ellen Johnson, Hazel Johnson, Eunice Lawrence, and brother, David Johnson. He is survived by his adored wife, Dorothy Johnson of Lake Stevens, WA, and his three children, Renay Hopkins of Lake Stevens, Dawn Marie (Michael) Helin of Lake Stevens, and Daniel (Denise) Johnson, Jr of Bothell, WA, and ten grandchildren, Erika (David) Reynolds, Lindsey (Dane) Stetner, Jordan Johnson, Mikayla (Caleb) Valdovinos, Riley (Sierra) Johnson, Danika (Spencer) Grant, Kimberlyn Helin, Kelsey Hopkins, Levi Helin, and Elijah Johnson. He also has three great grandsons, Robert Reynolds, Reuben Grant, and Oliver Johnson, with two more great granddaughters on the way. He is survived also by his brother, Glenn Johnson, sister, Carolyn Welch, and twin sister, Dorothy Schumacker, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, and the family later moved to Wichita, Kansas where he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1954 after high school. It was there he also met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Verbeck in June of 1957. After his service in the Marine Corps, he served on the Wichita fire department. It was here in Wichita where his three children were born. The family relocated to Seattle, Washington in 1966 where Dan worked for the next 30 years as a cement contractor. Even though he was very successful in his business and took great pride in his work, he was devoted first and foremost to God and family. These were his greatest passions. As a preacher's kid, he always attended church regularly and his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He passed that legacy on to his children, making sure his family was in church every Sunday and he served in many capacities, as Sunday school teacher, Royal Ranger leader, and deacon. He was a devoted family man, married for 59 years to the love of his life, Dorothy, with whom he raised their three children. His devotion to family was evident to all who knew him. Dan's greatest legacy is the Christian heritage he passed on to his children, which lives on in the lives of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at Bethany Christian Assembly, 2715 Everett Ave, Everett 98201 on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish, WA.
