Daniel Miles Taylor

April 7, 1950November 11, 2013

Dr. Daniel Miles Taylor, D.D.S, M.S.D., passed away the 11th of November 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children. Dan was born in Long Beach, California on April 7, 1950 and was the oldest of four children belonging to Dr. Louis G. and Dorothy Taylor. As a young man, he excelled in sports, and academics, both of which would lead him to success in life.

He completed an undergraduate degree while becoming a two-time Academic All-American playing football for Brigham Young University. After marrying Cynthia Holbrook in Los Angeles, CA the 27th of April 1974, Dan completed the Dental program at the University of Southern California, followed by the Orthodontic program at the University of Washington.

Dan and his family settled near Snohomish, WA where he practiced orthodontics and involved himself in the community. He became president of the Washington State Society of Orthodontics, a member of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, and an adjunct professor of Orthodontics at the University of Washington.

Following his retirement, he and Cindy visited their children making enough memories to last a lifetime. He enjoyed snow skiing, stamp collecting, snorkeling off the beaches in Hawaii, but most of all spending time with his family.

A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Dan served a two-year mission to Taiwan as a young man. He would go on to serve in many church service and leadership capacities, inviting people to believe in Jesus Christ.

All those who knew him will miss his patient, kind demeanor, quiet dignity, capacity for action, disciplined approach, and congenial sense of humor.

Daniel is survived by his wife Cynthia, his children; Andrew, Amy, Ann Marie, Christine, Michelle, and Juliana; his mother Dorothy, his siblings; Steven Larkin, Andrew, Suzanne, and David; and his twenty grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 7-9 pm on Friday evening 15th of November at Bauer Funeral Chapel, 701 First Street in Snohomish WA. Services will continue with a viewing on Saturday 9:30 am on the 16th of November, followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Saturday services will take place at the Everett Stake Center located at 9509 19th Avenue SE, Everett WA. Internment will take place immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA.

Dan was a friend of mine when I joined the church in 1969. Shortly thereafter he was called to a mission to Taiwan. Not long after that I was called to the same mission. We reconnected after our missions and he was a good friend until life sent us in different directions.

I remember Elder Taylor as a young missionary in Taiwan. He was an example to many, teaching and leading in our mission. I extend my love to the family.

DR Taylor was my orthodontist in Snohomish. Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great person and would wave as he went past my home after work in his yellow bug(it was a while ago, I may have the color wrong). Best wishes to his family.

Dan Taylor, mere mortal, was the most Christ-like man I have ever had the privilege to associate with. A man with unquestionable integrity that literally changed my life. I will never forget him. He was a man that touched countless lives and hearts; and now, those lives and hearts will touch many more with the love and influence Dan left with them. We all as a family are deeply grieved at his passing. We send our great love and condolences to you Cindy and to all your fine family.

Cindy, I am so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. Such a vital person at such a young age. You two were definitely made for each other and are two of the most wonderful people I've known. Even though we don't get to see each other, you are often in my thoughts. You will definitely be in my prayers.
Love you always...Sig Jones

Danny was one of my best friends in Anaheim from the age of 6 until I moved to San Diego at 15. We played football together for 6 years. I loved he's family and I was so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great friend to grow up with and I'll never forget him. I proud that my youngest son is named Miles..

Danny was such an important part of my life from 8th grade through our freshman year of college. I will always be grateful that he shared the gospel with me and baptized me into the church. He was an amazing, bright and talented man and I'm sure he will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family who were also great examples to me.
