During the evening of July 25, 2025, Donna B Steyaert, loving and caring wife, supportive and loving mother and dedicated eternal friend to so many peacefully passed away and joined those family and friends that had proceeded her. After a six month rapid decline associated with her long term Alzheimer’s and more recent Parkinson’s diagnosis she is now free from the devastating impacts to every aspect of her life that she had suffered with.
Donna was born at the end of September 1945 in the Oklahoma City area and grew up on the family dairy farm south of Oklahoma City. Donna graduated high school in 1963 in a class of only 15 students and went on to get a teaching degree from the Oklahoma College for Women and taught for a short period in El Reno, OK. As one of the only members of her entire family to ever leave Oklahoma, in 1972 she moved to Washington where she eventually met and married her husband Warren in 1985.
While she continued to work at Boeing Computer Services after getting married, as soon as her son Brian came into our lives, she quickly decided that she wanted to stay home to dedicate her life to raising our son. Her focus was always on our family as a dedicated, loving mother and extremely supportive and loving wife. There was never anyone that didn’t see in Donna her gentle, caring, loving and compassionate ways. While she was typically quiet and reserved, she was always full of happiness and life, never complaining even when faced with challenges. She had such a subtle wit with a wonderful sense of humor and an amazingly infectious smile that brought you in the moment you saw her.
She always loved cooking, sewing, gardening and had a true love and passion for music, especially 60’s and 70’s classic rock. You would never have wanted to play music trivia with Donna as she knew everything about so many bands and their music. She loved to travel, mostly to see her family and especially her sister in Oklahoma or to Hawaii but destination concerts whether it was The Who, The Eagles or Eric Clapton or any other classic rock band were always what she thought was a perfect combination of travel and music. The African safari trip was the most memorable vacation to her and she talked about it frequently to everyone.
Even while suffering from the recent illnesses, Donna was able to pull strength and energy to be able to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in March 2025 with a vow renewal and celebration of 40 years of loving memories in Oklahoma with all her families and many friends. The memories of that celebration will be something that we will all hold forever.
She is survived by her husband Warren and son Brian along with her sister Patsy and her nephew Justin (Melissa) and nieces Tara and Shannon (Lacy).
A Celebration of Life in Donna’s honor will be held on August 16, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Bauer Funeral Home (701 1st St, Snohomish, WA) with smaller ceremonies in Oklahoma and Hawaii at a later date.
